With literally thousands of watches being made every year by hundreds of watchmakers, sometimes locating a specific timepiece is like finding a needle in a haystack. This is where Ennio Barozzi comes in. He operates out of his family’s watch store in Brescia Italy and has been known to do the impossible:
To track down the watches his clients are pursuing, Mr. Barozzi, whose first timepiece was an Ulysse Nardin, haunts the vintage auction sales in Geneva and London. He has sometimes spent years in pursuit of a particular timepiece and often renovates the pieces he buys on behalf of his clientele.
Dr. Franco Gussalli Beretta, managing director of the Italian gun maker, who has been a customer of Mr. Barozzi for more than 30 years, credits Mr. Barozzi’s long relationship with major watch manufacturers as one of the keys to his success.
“He can find for you almost any model,” Mr. Beretta said.
Sometimes there is just that one watch that would mean everything to you to have it in your watch collection. If you have the need and the resources, you can use a man like Barozzi who’s boutique carries just about all of the top 30 watch brands so he might not need to dig too deep to find what you are looking for.
Barozzi recommends that any well rounded watch collection, you should seek out at least one timepiece from every brand.
