IWC Watches Creates Limited Edition Muhammad Ali Watch
Dedicated at IWC’s new Madison Avenue Boutique
Luxury Watchmaker, IWC Watches, has just opened it’s flagship boutique in New York City. This store is the largest watch shop worldwide.
Amidst the fanfare, IWC released their Big Pilot Muhammad Ali Watch to awaiting enthusiasts. This store was sort of a homecoming for IWC who’s founder, Ariosto Jones, was American. It’s been a long time off since the company began in 1868, but the timing couldn’t have been more perfect. And with the Muhammad Ali watch to entice watch lovers and celebrities alike for the glamorous opening.
Digital Journal describes the glory of the Muhammad Ali Big Pilot:
The Big Pilot’s Watch Edition Muhammad Ali is modeled unmistakably on an IWC legend: the historic Big Pilot’s Watch of 1940. The clearly organized matte-black dial, the arrowhead index at “12 o’clock” and the bold, luminescent numerals and hands guarantee minute-perfect legibility of the time, regardless of the light. As a reference to The Greatest™*, who often wore red boxing gloves for his fights, hands and appliqués are highlighted with signal-red Super-LumiNova®**, which gives the watch a unique, sporty, and distinctly masculine look. Red is also mirrored on the inside of the black alligator leather strap. The case back bears the official logo of Muhammad Ali’s 70th birthday. Only a month ago, IWC auctioned off a unique version of this exclusive edition on behalf of Celebrity Fight Night, donating the entire proceeds to the Muhammad Ali Center. To underline their common intentions, a part of the proceeds from sales of the limited edition will be used to support the Sportsman of the Century’s charitable causes. “I am already a proud owner of this beautiful timepiece. And, as a watch lover, I am very happy that IWC’s social commitment honors this limited edition,” notes Muhammad Ali, whose daughter Miya represented him on the occasion of the Flagship Boutique opening.
This legendary watch dedicated to an icon in sports was released in a limited edition of 250 timepieces sold with a ton (almost literally!) of great memorabilia in the package. The watch comes with the huge book “GOAT – Greatest of All Time” that catalogs the life and times of Muhammad Ali in a massive 20×20 binding weighing in at over 75 pounds.
This watch is truly a great dedication to a prize fighter loved world-wide and is a must-have for any discerning boxing fan.
