Ferarri Watches to be designed by Movado in 2013
Design honors shifted to another Swiss watchmaking firm
Ferrari watches have been an amazing source of inspiration and have spanned across many different designers of luxury watches over the years. From Panerai to Cabestan to Hublot, Ferrari has managed to keep their branded watch line fresh by shifting the design and manufacturing honors annually to allow a fresh set of eyes to determine how Ferrari’s influence on design can be reinterpreted into the luxury watch world.
This year, Movado has been given the honors to reimagine the Ferrari name brand:
Movado states that the design of the new collection will be inspired by Ferrari’s Formula 1 race cars and its road cars, past and present, and should be immediately identifiable to fans.
Speaking at the announcement of the new deal with Movado, Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezemolo said, “I am very pleased to be collaborating with the Movado Group. This agreement is the perfect complement to our branded watch business in an innovative and highly competitive segment. We look forward to benefiting from Movado’s expertise in design, development and distribution in order to reach our fans around the world.”
The watches are expected to sell at around a $2000 price point and the 2013 Ferrari watches will be available worldwide at store that sell Ferrari items as well as at Ferrari dealerships.
It’s exciting to see how Movado will interpret this challenge. They have some pretty stiff competition from years past. Plus you have to wait a whole year to get your chance to buy one… Hurry hurry hurry!
