U-BOAT creates the vintage watch look in timeless design
One of my favorite watch brands is U-BOAT watches. You can picture a WWII bomber pilot extending his arm to look at his Flightdeck watch to know the precise time to start dropping bombs all over the countryside. There’s just something satisfying about the solid thickness and well-built battleship design that spell out “manly.”

Every U-BOAT creation also from different collections such as Classico, Flightdeck and Thousands of Feet is always characterized by this “retro-style look” and unique design.
Examples are the two U-51 models, Bronze and “B and B”, one completely in bronze and the other one matched with black IPB stainless steel, both with the case originally designed for the 2010 limited edition, U-51 Rattrapante. Every detail has been studied in order to increase the Vintage look effect and let the material naturally change age with time.
For these limited editions of only 300 items each, the bronze metal has been treated with carefully selected acids and it has not received any rhodium coating in order to keep the raw material natural.
Following the concept, the hands have been painted first, discolored and then scratched by hand meticulously on purpose to age them.
When you finish off perfection with the final details like solid leather strap and the heavy-duty clasp, just wearing this watch is like walking down the dock to climb up on your submarine. As you stand on deck, you salute your loved ones and then crawl back in time to get started on your mission.
