Louis Moinet Geograph Rainforest best design of 2012
Red Dot gives design award to Rainforest watch
Making an outstanding watch is the goal for any luxury watch maker, but winning important design awards is the icing on the cake. Winning design awards that aren’t timepiece specific is extremely rare since they are up against outstanding design across all genres.
Louis Moinet has won the Red Dot Best of the Best 2012 award for it’s Geograph Rainforest watch. Each year, Red Dot sifts through thousands of entries embodying the best in groundbreaking technology and eye popping design and this year, Louis Moinet came out on top. Exec Digital explains the gravity of this award:
Louis Moinet doesn’t need much introduced for lovers of prestigious watches, but the Geograph Rainforest timepiece has now entered a realm very few others can claim – with its purest beauty, renowned technology and superior design, this watch manufacturer has just entered another division in the watch industry.
Apart from its clear aesthetic appeal, the Geograph Rainforest timepiece does more than just stand out on your wrist – for each watch Louis Moinet sells, a donation is made to the Pulau Banding Foundation, an organization dedicated to preserving the Malaysian tropic forest of Belum-Temengor.
This is a really big deal as Louis Moinet was competing with the best of the world spanning every possible field. And take a look at that watch! It’s reminiscent of the gills of a rainforest mushroom. This is an outstanding example of how watch design links to the nature it’s named after.
