There is no doubt that Chet Baker was an icon of Jazz and played a tremendous role in the development of music at the time.

Born in 1929, Baker went on to become a legend in the 298th Army Band while stationed in Berlin. What Baker became most well known for is his various versions of “My Funny Valentine” and went on to become a staple for many big band groups of the time and then everntually venturing out on his own.

Oris has captured this magical genius and distilled it into a gorgeous luxury watch released in a limited edition. The Bangkok Post explains:

Much like the pure vocals of Baker, the watch features a perfectly formed stainless steel case, with double curved sapphire crystal and a non-reflective coating on the inside. The beautifully engraved case back features a silhouette of Baker with his trumpet. The watch is crafted in a limited edition of only 1,929 pieces to mark his birth year, 1929.

The musical theme of the timepiece is continued on the face of the watch. The crisp black dial provides a smooth backdrop for the hour indexes which are bars from the song My Funny Valentine. The 12 o’clock position features a beautiful little clef, while the double bar line at 8 o’clock represents the first eight bars of the song which have to be repeated.

This great watch for music lovers comes in it’s own unique box and includes a sweet mechanical metronome. This is definitely a well designed tribute to an amazing musician with his likeness engraved on the back of the watch.
